I stayed at Skene House Rosemount. Everything about this hotel/apartment was excellent and I have stayed in many. The staff were helpful, charming and friendly. The apartment was clean and modern and the two heaters quickly warmed up the rooms. Nice flat screen television in the lounge and bedroom. The kitchen was well equiped and there was cereal, milk, orange juice, bread, butter and jam. Secure private parking and you are only a walk from the main shops and entertainment.
Stayed at Skene House Whiteahall, thank you for a lovely visit
We will be back! A lovely Hotel - Very nice people! Skene House Whitehall - 05/12/10
Due to an unexpected last-minute change of plans, I needed somewhere to stay in Aberdeen on a cold night in January. Everybody was pleasant and helpful and check-in was rapid and efficient at Skene House. I didn’t notice much on arrival as I was tired, flustered and just wanted somewhere to sleep. A very kind security man took time to make sure I knew exactly where to go next day for breakfast, walking the route (it wasn’t far but a wrong turn in a strange place can prove frustrating the next morning) and explaining the set-up as the building proved to be an amazing Tardis. What you see on the outside is only a fraction of what is inside due to the positioning of the building alongside some of Aberdeen’s famous vaults which I’d only ever heard about. My guide then made sure I knew where everything was and how the lights and security system worked. He even brought along fresh milk! For a lone female in an unexpected situation, there was great comfort in knowing reception was instantly there at the end of a phone line. No messing with grumpy night porters or beepers and answer machines. The apartment was spotless – as was the whole building – and very comfortable. I didn’t need to use the kitchen facilities apart from a mug of coffee, but it was well equipped and I could imagine two people self-catering to a very high standard, yet still having a decent living space, which was separate from the bedroom. As the sister of a bathroom supplier, I’m always on the snoop for things that do -- and don’t – work well in hotels. This shower room was faultless, well-equipped and so clean it could have been in a show house. Someone who knows the realities of hotel life has taken a lot of time to ensure the furniture and fittings of all three rooms are of the highest standard and well maintained, with no fuss or clutter. The little hallway provided an effective barrier against corridor noises, which can be quite annoying at night. In fact, there was absolutely no sound of anyone else’s TV or shower, which can be a bit disconcerting late or early, and make you worry if yours is disturbing anyone else. The walk to breakfast gave a morning view of the well-appointed conference and training facilities and the meal itself was at the luxurious end of the term “continental”. Believe me, I’ve bounced a few rock-hard rolls on worn plates in my time…even in London hotels. Here, everything was fresh and tasty. You could have as much as you wanted, sit anywhere you pleased, and if you so much as lifted an eyebrow, a friendly member of staff scooted to help. There were newspapers and 24 hour news for those of us who feel awkward dining in glorious isolation among strangers, but the earlybird businesspeople all seemed to be enjoying the relaxed, efficient start to their day. Finally, checkout was simple and quick and included a swiftly-hailed taxi, which is usually an impossibility at 8am in central Aberdeen on a week day. Funnily, enough, among all the small touches that made my brief visit so memorable, the shared joke with the receptionist about the quirky fresh apple container, and its attraction for younger visitors, meant I left smiling broadly. Stay at Skene House. It’s good for your equilibrium …and your teeth!
Skene House Holburn. Great location, facilities and staff. We will be back.
Don't look anywhere else for your stay in Aberdeen - this is the place.
I can't rave more about our stay at Skene House Rosemount. It is exceptional value for money and the service is fantastic. We were greeted by friendly staff on our arrival who made calls and all attempts possible to speed up our check in (we arrived at 8:30am and were due to check in at 2pm but they managed to have our room ready by 11am). We were offered tea, coffee etc on arrival AND were upgraded to a superior suite. The room was modern, clean and had everything you could possible need - including TWO flat screen tvs! The free breakfast which came with our room was a continental one (not a cooked breakfast) but there was more than enough selection of good quality food and drink - porridge, mini boxes of cereal, lots of varieties of pastries, fresh fruits and nuts, breads, spreads, cheeses, meats etc etc.
I would highly recommend this hotel/apartments. If we ever return to Aberdeen we will stay here again without a second thought.
Outstanding value for money!
