Foodie Review: The Store

Example Kitchen Skene House Rosemount

So, you’ve checked-in to your Skene House Hotel Suite after a long day of work and travel and now you need to rustle up something super tasty in your well-equipped Skene House kitchen. First off you’re thinking -"wow, what value for money to have a kitchen and living room for the same price as a standard hotel room!"

Next up, what to cook? Away from home you may want to sample some of the finest Scottish produce and where better to procure said produce than The Store at Foveran.

The Store is a farm shop which has been developed from a fourth generation farm just a 30 minute drive North East of Aberdeen (not far from Trump International Golf Links). Having been ‘reared’ on a farm myself, I just love the concept around this family business.

On first impressions, you can see the hard work and passion that the whole family have for providing fresh, local and high quality food for their loyal customers. Above and beyond The Store you can even sense that the family business challenges the scandalous mass producing food industry and evidently succeeding at providing their customers with the quality produce they demand.

At the store, you can be rest assured that the quality of the food and customer service is top notch, that your food is fully traceable and not packed with preservatives or nasty chemicals. The store holds many awards, one of which is the Visit Scotland four star award.

On my numerous visits to The Store I have found it hard to resist not trying something different every time. The first time it was a Sunday Brunch of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. The next visit was excellent coffee and scrumptious homemade scones, clotted cream and a generous dollop of sweet and juicy jam. And most recently, 12 of my dearest friends descended on the Hog Roast BBQ Foodie Friday event and what a hoot we had!

I can’t wait for the next event which takes place on the last Friday of every month. Keep an eye on the events page for more details. Taxis’ could easily be arranged from Skene House Hotel Suites and you can pick up enough fresh and local produce to cook a tasty meal in your own Skene House apartment - alternatively you can be inspired by The Store's recipes page, simply shop online and have it delivered right to Skene House reception!
