Under the Hammer
Looking for a cosy little pub in Aberdeen, just a short walk from Skene House Rosemount you will find this hidden gem on North Silver Street.
The name Under the Hammer refers to the Bon Accord Auction House above. Below, is a whole other world; possibly the cosiest bar I have ever encountered. Complete with mismatching tables and chairs, mainly lit by candle light and old fashioned lamps (very flattering for the image conscious), and buzzing with conversation…but not so loud that you can’t hear yourself speak. The clientele tend to be ‘older’, averaging 30+, more civilised and very laid back.
This place is great for after work drinks or respite from a cold and blustery night. The bar serves quality beer and ales, wine and a selection of spirits…but I would stick to what they do best, Ale.
