Teen Skene on Aberdeen Music Venues
Everyone enjoys a bit of music, from classical, to pop, to rock...when you are visiting Aberdeen there may just be some of your favourite bands or music artists playing!
The main music arena in Aberdeen, is the ‘Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre’ or otherwise known as the AECC. This has housed many famous artists such as, Tinie Tempah, Rihanna, Katy Perry, McFly, The Proclaimers, Florence + The Machine, Gary Barlow and many more! With a carrying capacity of thousands of visitors, the atmosphere of the arena is outstanding!
A smaller, but still as great a music venue in Aberdeen is the Music Hall, located on Union Street. Not only does it look beautiful inside, but it is absolutely stunning on the outside! It has housed many famous musicians such as Ed Sheeran, The Noisettes, Ben Howard and Noah And The Whale. At the Music Hall, you are sure to get a much closer and personal experience.
For people who enjoy more ‘indie’ music, one of my good friends recommends the following venues. ‘The Tunnel’s' is located below Marks and Spencer’s in Aberdeen, follow the cobbled path under the tunnel and you will find one of Aberdeen’s best music venues. This 300 size venue is perfect for both intimate and lively performances. Similar to Tunnels is ‘Café Drummonds’ on Belmont Street, both offer you the chance to see the UK’s up and coming bands. Bands that have played in Tunnels and Drummonds include The Vaccines, The kooks, Hot Chip, Dog is Dead, Frank Turner, Enter Shikari and many more. Upcoming gigs that I’m looking forward to include Peace on February 12th and PAWS on the 15TH.
To find out who's playing when you are in Aberdeen check out the venue websites, Ticketmaster and also the musicians Facebook/Twitter pages!
