Autumn in Aberdeen

Crathes Castle

Last weekend we decided to get away from the city and make the most of the colourful autumn scenery. What can be better than the crisp weather and fresh country air – if you’re looking for a scenic drive and romantic walk in the countryside then look no further than Crathes Castle, just a 30 minute drive from Skene House HotelSuites.

Unfortunately the castle was closed by the time we arrived; however the castle grounds and gardens were spectacular. You can find all you need to know about Crathes Castle, Garden and Estate on the National Trust for Scotland website.

And moving on, further down the road, we came across Castle Fraser, another enchanting place to visit and also within easy driving distance of Skene House HotelSuites.

Classed as one of the ‘grandest Scottish baronial tower houses’, the castle even has its own restaurant operated by a French chef and his wife.
